2010 Centenary of Guiding

2010 marks the Centenary year of GirlguidingUK. SSAGO members who are members of GirlguidingUK have many opportunities open to them during this celebratory year, ranging from local launch parties and Thinking Day celebrations to attending the Centenary Camp or taking part in an international adventure of a lifetime. The year will culminate with every member of the movement remaking their promise at 20.10, 20.10.2010 (no you’re not seeing double!!!).

The Centenary year begins on 5th September 2009. This marks 100 years from when the first girls approached Lord Baden Powell at the Crystal Palace Boy Scout Rally asking to join in with all the action. His sister Agnes (the Grandmother of Guiding) was tasked with starting the Girl Guides and, as they say, the rest is history!

For anyone wishing to find out more about the Guiding Centenary and the adventures open to the different sections please visit www.girlguiding100years.org.uk/

SSAGO will be marking the Guiding Centenary with the production of polo shirts and badges. These will be available to order from the first rally of the academic year 09/10. For more information please contact the exec.
