SAGUWE - Best New Society 2008

On 21st April, in a student bar somewhere in Bristol, with a couple of hundred people the annual UWE activities awards were held. Scouts and Guides at UWE (SAGUWE) were up for three awards:

  • The other Award
  • Best New Society
  • Best Website

Well we came as runners up in best website and the other award. Apparently asking if we could have a fire in the car park is an outrageous request, who’d have thought. Then it was announced that SAGUWE were the best new society 2008 considering we missed freshers fair we thought that was great.

So congratulations to everyone in SAGUWE, let’s go for Best Society next year.

SLAGS Club Report

Students of Liverpool Association of Guides and Scouts

Since February Rally the club has had many challenges, mainly in the form of the Liverpool SSAGO Ball. Luckily things went well and we’d like to thank all who supported us and we hope you had a great night. Stanette certainly had an eventful time!

Since then the club has been recovering with a series of entertaining activities such as being shush-ed at bingo, being creative with crafts, a very amusing poker night, card games galore, picnics in the park (well it would have been if it hadn’t rained) and ditto with a trip to the beach.

Our AGM went successfully although we have had to re-arrange our job roles due to a large amount of people graduating this year. Our club will be small at the start the next academic year but we hope to continue by gaining more members and expanding our activities.

Students of London Indie Collective, Feb 07

Since the last rally, SLIC had a Christmas meal with GLMW. This went done well and a great time was had by all. SLIC is slowly building up, but at the moment we are having problems as we are confined to only one part of London, but at the moment James Knights is sorting this out and hopefully over the next year we will increase.

The SLIC Website has been improved a lot since the first version that was made over a year ago. It is looking more professional mainly due to the advance in skills that have been achieved. For this the Feb rally, SLIC has its biggest turnout ever. This shows that we are gradually getting bigger and are planning to take over the world.
